The project co-operates with private sector players and targets new market opportunities. The project aims to increase the export earnings of the leather sector by developing the human resources capacity and quality of leather produced.

The project activities are targeted at the process that takes place after the tannery stage. The project activities are grouped under three main components and include (a) identifying technical skills required for enhanced quality production and upgrading skills of personnel engaged in the production units, (b) improving the quality and design of the leather products produced, (c) improving the marketing skills and market development and (d) dissemination of good manufacturing practices.
