The project involved a study to assess the scope, and potential for, the successful development of ginger cultivation and primary processing in West Africa for export.  Available data on ginger production and markets was scarce and did not provide sufficient justification to initiate a full-scale Ginger development undertaking.  The study assessed the general feasibility and comparative advantages of ginger production in three West African countries (Sierra Leone, Guinea and Burkina Faso) and covered relevant issues related to its sustainable production, processing and marketing.  The project was closed with the publication of a final report (Final Report FIGTF-02FT).
