The long-term objective of this project was to improve structural conditions for producers in the international tea market, which would be conducive to additional demand for tea world-wide. The project mainly concentrated on establishing the positive health effects of tea through a variety of medical specialist studies commissioned by CFC and the UK Tea Council Ltd. With the help of FAO, CFC consulted stakeholders in consuming countries (UK, USA, Canada) and producing countries (India, Indonesia, Kenya and Sri Lanka) to develop a Teak Mark with legal standing and also its promotion through the media. The development and the testing of the Tea Mark was the last project activity.
