Bridging the Yield Gap in Irrigated Rice in Brazil and Venezuela

The objective of the project is to increase the productivity of irrigated rice in Brazil and Venezuela by establishing on-farm research and technology transfer programmes and introducing rice growers to improved crop management practices, thereby narrowing the yield gap, increasing on-farm incomes and permitting more sustainable production. The project results and experience in organising the technology transfer programmes are subsequently being extended to other CFC/FLAR Member Countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region. The project is being implemented in the States of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil and, Portuguesa and Guárico, Venezuela.
