  • The project implemented activities to improve extraction of oil from coconuts. Specific multi locational technologies were tested in Cote d' Ivoire, Ghana, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.

    The project achieved its three main objectives: First, to study and improve existing techniques for extracting oil from fresh coconuts and to introduce improved methods in selected countries. Second, to adapt existing techniques and processes for extracting oil from oilseeds to copra and coconut on a small scale. Third, to provide advice to governments and communities on the technical, economic and social aspects of small-scale coconut oil extraction.
