In April 2011, thirty senior government agricultural officers involved in extension and project planning / implementation, especially in the tropical fruit sector from 15 countries in Western and Central Africa were invited, to deliberate on issues and challenges related to enhancing the smallholders participation in the tropical fruit value chain through production techniques and practices. Post harvest management and group organisation that would assist in linking the market was also discussed. The workshop formulated plan which could be referred to as a working tool were invited by the countries involved.
