Ambassador of the State of Kuwait makes farewell visit to the CFC

H.E. Mr. Abdul Rahman Humood A. R. Al-Otaibi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Netherlands, is seen with Managing Director Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal at the Secretariat of the CFC. H.E. Mr. Abdul Rahman Humood A. R. Al-Otaibi came to visit CFC to make a farewell call before his impending departure from the Netherlands for his home country.

Ambassador Al-Otaibi was received by Managing Director Ambassador Belal and Senior Project Manager Mr. Hector Besong of the CFC.

During the discussion, Ambassador Belal briefed Ambassador Al-Otaibi on the current as well as probable future initiatives of the CFC. Ambassador Belal requested Ambassador Al-Otaibi to help CFC with their success stories and thereby help CFC to improve the format and character of CFC projects. Amb. Belal also requested Amb. Al-Otaibi to introduce CFC to potential stakeholders so that CFC could scale up its work globally. Ambassador Belal wished to see more working relations and partnership with the countries, like Kuwait, in the days to come to fight against poverty.

Ambassador Belal also briefed Ambassador Al-Otaibi on the ongoing initiative on the formulation of a fund titled CIIF (Commodity Impact Investment Facility) and thereby enabling CFC to contribute more for alleviation of poverty. Once formed, CIIF could also be an avenue for Kuwait to join this impact investment fund as an anchor investor.

Ambassador Belal highlight appreciated the trend setting work of Kuwait Fund and invited Kuwait to consider CIIF as one of their investment destinations. This will help CFC to scale up its model projects globally.

A general discussion on the challenges of the commodity producers at this time of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine followed. Amb. Belal made a presentation on how developing countries are paying a much higher price for this pandemic and the war.

Before taking leave, Ambassador Al-Otaibi assured that he will do his best to bring good project ideas from his country and the region as well as promoting the idea of impact investment as best as he could. Amb. Belal invited Amb. Al-Otaibi to share good ideas from the State of Kuwait and help CFC to make its projects readily scalable.

Ambassador Belal assured to pursue more innovative outreaches in the days to come to make the services of CFC available to as many people as possible in the commodity dependent developing world, with a heightened sense of innovations and creativity.
