Indonesia wishes to strengthen its palm oil industry

Amsterdam, 11 July 2025 – The Managing Director of the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal, welcomed Mr. Royhan Nevy Wahab, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Indonesia in The Hague, to the CFC headquarters for a high-level discussion on enhancing cooperation in the palm oil sector.

Joining Mr. Wahab were Mr. Fransiskus Xaverius Widiyarso, Minister-Counsellor, and Ms. Imada Simbolon, Counsellor. Ambassador Belal was supported by Mr. Chris Rallis, Impact Investment Analyst, and Ms. Zahra Kahla, Research Assistant.

The meeting served as a platform to exchange insights on challenges and opportunities across the global palm oil value chain, with a focus on advancing sustainable practices, uplifting smallholder farmers, and fostering greater value addition in producing countries.

Key discussion points included the role of innovation, access to finance, and the alignment of private sector initiatives with international development objectives. Participants underscored the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration to promote environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and economic resilience in palm oil production.

Both sides expressed keen interest in deepening collaboration to identify high-impact investment opportunities and innovative project models, reinforcing the CFC’s mission of poverty reduction through commodity-driven development.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to sustained engagement and further exploration of joint initiatives in the near future.
